How do I send a large video file online with WeTransfer?

Create a free account, go to WeTransfer, and upload your video directly in the browser. No software to install. Once it's uploaded, you get a unique download link to share however you like, by email, chat, or anywhere else.

Will my video be compressed or re-encoded when I send it?

No. WeTransfer does not touch your files. Your video is sent in its original format at its original quality, whether that's 4K, ProRes, or anything else. What you upload is exactly what your recipient downloads.

How large a video can I send for free?

Free accounts support transfers up to 3 GB, which covers a lot of ground for standard video files. If you regularly work with larger footage, upgrading to Ultimate removes the size cap entirely so you can send as much as you need in a single transfer.

Can I send the same video to multiple people at once?

Yes. Every transfer gets a shareable download link that works for as many recipients as you want, so you can post it in a group chat or share it publicly with no recipient limit. If you prefer to send by email, free accounts can address up to 10 recipients per transfer, and paid plans go up to 50.

How do I make sure only the right person can download my video?

You have a couple of options. You can add a password to the transfer, so only people with the password can access it. You can also restrict access to specific email addresses, meaning only those recipients can download the file even if someone else gets hold of the link. Both options are available on all plans.
